There's been no news about bringing back the 30th anniversary themes for PS5.
Initially, we came across mentions of this update on Reddit and decided not to share any details until we had experienced it ourselves. But now, after observing screenshots showcasing the fresh animated backdrops along with further confirmations from fellow gamers, we feel comfortable discussing it.
People who've gotten the update can now enjoy animated backgrounds for titles such as Days Gone Remastered, Ghost of Yotsui, Ghost of Tsushima, Demon’s Souls, God of War Ragnarök, and various Horizon series games, amongst others. Before this update, our sole animated theme was for Astro Bot, potentially being the exclusive background option available to certain gamers before the upgrade.
To verify whether you've gotten the update, just head over to the Welcome Hub, tap on the backgrounds, and choose 'Games.'
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on the return of PlayStation 30th anniversary themes for the PS5, which Sony has promised will return at some point following fan requests.
