The students from Page High School located in northern Arizona were dismissed early on Wednesday afternoon, according to statements made by school authorities.
In a message addressed to parents, authorities stated that the students were dismissed from school at noon because of a potential threat to the institution.
Officials stated that there isn't an active threat to the community at this time; however, the school is collaborating with the Page Police Department to look into the matter further.
The premature dismissal was a preventive step taken by the school to safeguard students while they were on campus. As an extra cautious move, all post-school events were called off.
Page High School will remain closed for the remainder of the day.
