The U.S. Postal Service is getting a major shake-up with slow mail, fewer jobs and big changes ahead.
The effort to modernize America's mail system will be arriving at your mailbox this month.
As part of a decade-long initiative aimed at reducing expenses and updating operations, the U.S. Postal Service is implementing a cost-saving strategy. Beginning this month, postal deliveries may take longer for certain individuals, particularly those residing in remote regions.
According to the Postal Service, most First-Class mail will not be affected; however, certain items may experience delays in delivery.
This is all part of an initiative supported by the Trump administration and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Up until now, this has entailed workforce reductions, alterations to routes, along with efforts to transition to electric vehicles.
Workers have been protesting , worried these changes could lead to reduced service or the full-blown privatization of the Postal Service. Trump has floated the idea of merging USPS with the Commerce Department, while Musk wants the agency privatized. Critics warn that would hurt rural customers who rely on the mail more than those in urban areas.
