United Front Against Robocalls: Coalition, Including TN AG, Warns Companies This Affects Everyone With a Phone

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A cross-party group consisting of 51 Attorneys General from the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force, which includes Tennessee’s Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, has sent warnings to nine telephone service providers for their involvement in unlawful robocalling activities.

The letters alerted the nine service providers — Global Net Holdings, All Access Telecom, Lingo Telecom, NGL Communications, Range, RSCom Ltd, Telcast Network, ThinQ Technologies, and Telcentris — that they are violating both state and federal laws by transmitting presumably unauthorized robocalls via their systems. Should these entities not address this issue and halt the illicit robocall activity, measures may be implemented against them.

Curbing the menace of robocalling scams is an admirable objective that we all should support," stated Skrmetti. "Tennessee takes pride in being part of this nonpartisan alliance leading efforts to safeguard susceptible Americans from the cunning exploitation by persistent robocalls. This problem impacts everyone who owns a telephone, and my office remains committed to ensuring that service providers take necessary actions until this irritation ceases.

The task force communicated their worries to law enforcement collaborators and the Federal Communications Commission since these entities have jointly issued numerous traceback notifications regarding unlawful and dubious robocalls. These calls encompass various schemes such as government impostor frauds—where con artists often pose as officials from U.S. Medicare or Social Security—and other types of scams including those related to debt relief and auto warranties.
