Residents of Washington will get an opportunity to receive some complimentary funds that they can use specifically for purchasing an electric bike.
On Wednesday morning, a new statewide program offering instant rebates for electric bikes will launch, with expectations that many individuals will attempt to secure portions of the $4 million allocated by the state.
The state is introducing WE-bike to encourage more individuals to use electric bikes for commuting to work, school, and various other locations.
The funds can be applied towards purchasing electric bicycles as well as some gear needed for their usage.
The application website Opens at 7 a.m. and closes at noon on Wednesday, April 23rd.
The upfront discounts amount to either $300 or $1,200 for each individual. To qualify, you have to reside in Washington state and be 16 years of age or older.
According to the state regulations, applicants must furnish their physical address, email, telephone number, along with demographic data.
Each household is eligible for only one rebate.
The state anticipates distributing approximately 10,000 vouchers.
Individuals applying for the rebates have to satisfy the income requirements, with 60% allocated to those from lower-income families.
The rebates should be utilized within 45 days from when they are received, or by June 30 at the latest, whichever occurs sooner.
