The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has unveiled its online application form For the 'WE-bike' instant rebate initiative starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9th, the scheme offers qualifying purchasers an immediate discount of $300 or $1,200 per individual and continues until noon on Wednesday, April 23rd.

Can I qualify for Washington's electric bicycle incentive program?

According to WSDOT, to receive an instant rebate after purchasing an electric bicycle, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You live in Washington.
  • You're at least 16 years of age.
  • Your household's income before taxes is at or below 80% of the median income for your area within the county.

According to WSDOT, only one e-bike rebate per household is allowed. It’s important to remember that a household consists of those who file taxes jointly.

Individuals who qualify based on the income criteria can receive $1,200 rebates. Those who do not meet this criterion are entitled to $300 rebates instead.

How to utilize your WA e-bike immediate discount

WSDOT states that the rebates pertain to the overall price of your purchase at the time you complete it.

For example, you have to use the rebate for purchasing an e-bike; however, it can also cover e-bike accessories and maintenance plans. Additionally, rebates should be utilized within 45 days from receiving them or before June 30 at the latest.
