A follow-up to Respawn's popular game Titanfall 2 could indeed be in the works, according to a major leak which suggests it will be revealed next year.
Titanfall 2 is among the most renowned first-person shooter games over the last ten years, yet the prospects for a follow-up have consistently seemed remote since it fell short of expectations. EA ’s sales expectations.
This feeling was intensified by the success of Respawn’s subsequent shooter game. Apex Legends , which takes place within the Titanfall universe but has minimal similarities in gameplay, as the latter is a free-to-play battle royale shooter without any mechs. robots .
Even so, there have been Titanfall 3 rumours For many years, these rumors haven’t led to anything substantial. But now, a well-known leakster for Apex Legends asserts that not only is Titanfall 3 genuine, but it’s also “nearly finished.”
Last week, insiders Osvaldisdore and Yorotsuki, renowned for their leaks about Apex Legends, stated that Titanfall 3 is currently being developed and will soon be officially revealed. The Game Awards 2025 'at the earliest,' prior to its release in 2026.
After making those statements, Osvaldotore posted additional purported information regarding the upcoming sequel on X. According to his tweet, Titanfall 3 is currently under development using Unreal Engine 5 and will include both a solo story mode as well as functioning as a live-service game complete with battle passes—this implies that the multiplayer component may be offered independently.
The most interesting claim is that the sequel’s ‘main’ multiplayer mode will be Extraction based, presumably akin to Escape From Tarkov. Past modes from Titanfall 2 will apparently be included though, like Team Deathmatch and Control.
As claimed by the source, Titanfall 3 will include characters from Apex Legends along with an advanced weather system; however, details about these elements have not been provided yet.
Like all rumors, it's wise to approach this with skepticism, but this could be the strongest indication so far of a possible Titanfall 3.
Update: Fellow whistleblower Jeff Grubb has refuted the information , simply saying, 'This isn’t real, sorry. It’s not real.'
'Does [Titanfall 1 director Steve Fukuda] have some sort of early version that includes Titans? I imagine he does. While I can't say for certain, I'd definitely consider it a reasonable assumption.'
'Now, will this announcement happen in 2025 with a release scheduled for 2026? Absolutely not.'
Grubb has made mistakes before, but he's seldom been this resolute in discrediting a narrative, which isn’t a positive indicator.
Original story continues:
The main concern is whether Titanfall 3 can thrive in today's gaming market and among Electronic Arts' upcoming releases. A follow-up game might cannibalize Apex Legends' player base, and EA is already investing significant resources into their other online shooter titles. Battlefield 6 , which might risk endangering both of them.
If this holds true, Respawn has numerous initiatives underway, alongside its continuous support for Apex Legends and the development of the sequel. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor It is also collaborating on a forthcoming Star Wars strategy game scheduled for unveiling on April 19.
