Threads Is Testing New Feature: Follow Your Favorite Creators from X

Meta is starting to test a new feature in Threads This allows users to follow the same creators they subscribe to on X, as confirmed by the company to Massima.

"We're presently experimenting with a method that will enable you to discover and follow content creators from various platforms on Threads, which should simplify connecting with individuals and discussions that are significant to you," stated Alec Booker, a representative from Meta, via email.

Recently, many content producers have departed from X to rival social networks like Threads and Bluesky, only to find themselves losing substantial numbers of followers along the way. Additionally, certain individuals have apparently found it challenging to recreate the close-knit groups they built over time on X. To ease this transition, this tool has been designed specifically to assist both creators and newbies setting up shop on Threads.

The feature, which is presently in beta testing, was first spotted By cybersecurity analyst and ex-Meta staff member Jane Manchum Wong.

On Wednesday, when launching the Threads mobile application, several users like Maxima encountered a popup indicating that they could now "Discover prominent creators from X." This popup directed them to a beta feature where they received guidance on exporting their follower list from X and importing it into Threads.

It remains uncertain precisely how Meta is linking creators on the X platform with their accounts on Threads. According to Meta, this feature will be available for "well-known creators," though possibly not for all individuals you follow on X. When reached out for comments regarding this issue, Meta has yet to provide an immediate response.

As mentioned, features such as these are aiding Threads in becoming a robust contender to X, showing consistent growth. According to Meta’s report in January, Threads had over 320 million active users each month. (MAUs), an increase from 300 million MAUs in December. Despite each company using different methods for measuring MAUs, it appears that Threads has reached a similar user base level as X.
