Earlier this week we learned that Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders would be delayed in the US .
In a statement provided to MassimaGaming, Nintendo stated that "pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 In the U.S., the initiative won’t begin on April 9, 2025, to evaluate the possible effects of tariffs and changing market dynamics."
Although we are aware that the launch date for June 5, 2025, remains unchanged as of now, this choice has sparked concerns over possible inventory problems related to the console. There is also worry about significant price hikes because of expenses linked to tariffs.
In a recent interview with CNBC , Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser offered some reassurances. While "it remains to be seen" whether the company will be able to meet demand, Bowser says it "certainly is our goal."
He disclosed that we have managed to accumulate inventory on a worldwide scale over a certain period. They have even arrived in the United States already.
Aside from possibly preventing consumers from having difficulty obtaining a Nintendo Switch 2, this current inventory might also mitigate some of the major effects of new tariffs before they become noticeable—at least for now.
Products that are already within the U.S. borders do not incur any import duties. Should this stock be sufficiently substantial, it might sustain American purchasers until circumstances evolve differently. Only time will tell how things unfold.
