On Tuesday, one woman sustained injuries after a vehicle lost a tire which then flew across the divider, hitting the car she was driving in the opposite direction on Interstate 95. Milford.
At 8:28 a.m., emergency responders were sent out following reports of an accident near the northbound section of I-95, close to Exit 39A.
When they arrived, crews discovered a solitary vehicle that had been hit by a loose wheel dislodged from an automobile moving southward at high speeds on the highway.
Images taken at the location depict the tire remaining on the rim, positioned beside the divider. Another picture of the vehicle reveals the area on the windscreen that was hit squarely by the tire.
According to Jason Dombrowska, the Public Information Officer for the Milford Fire Department, the driver suffered severe injuries and needed to be freed from the car. The individual was stabilized and then transported to a nearby hospital for further assessment.
The Connecticut State Police are looking into the event.
